Asado – Bristol

posted in: Food Reviews | 0

What:  Asado is a Spanish word that means Barbecue and it is mostly used in South American countries, like Argentina and Chile. Here in Bristol, it is a burger joint with a difference. They local source high quality ingredients to make burgers, which they then cook over a wood fired BBQ.

The restaurant itself is a small and has a relaxed vibe, which is dotted with green plants and colourful pictures. The seats are wooden benching and functional wooden chairs. The food is complemented well by a great beer, wine and cocktail list.

Where: 90 Colston St, Bristol BS1 5BB

Why: Bristol is a burger mecca, so to stand above the rest you need to pair fantastic ingredients with excellent cooking skills. This is exactly what Asado manage to perfection. The beef patties are well seasoned, juicy and cooked to the perfect pink in the middle. They then combine the patty with fresh salad, locally made sesame coated bread buns and a range of home made sauces.

The buttermilk chicken is crispy, the coating perfectly spiced and the meat juicy through out. Add to the top of that a range of ever changing specials, the perfectly salty, seasoned rosemary fries and two flavours of crispy chicken wings and you have a great menu.

Finally, as if the above isn’t enough, they have a good range of local beers, freshly made cocktails and even house wine (if you are that way inclined!)

How Much: Burgers between £8-10 each, Fries £3 and Wings £6.50
