The Wellbourne, Clifton

What: The Wellbourne in Clifton is a flexible beast. At once a sleek and minimally decorated cafe, open for brunch and lunch, it morphs slickly into a well atmosphered bistro style restaurant at evenings, whilst at all times reserving the right to be an elegant wine bar.

Opened and run by a team of experienced restauranters, who own two other places, one in White City and one in Spain. The chefs, Ross Gibbens and Micheal Kennedy both have impressive CV’s most notable for their time at Dabbous.

Where: 25 The Mall, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 4JG

Why: My wife and I were lucky enough to win a twitter competition, so were luckily invited to Wellbourne for a four course tasting menu, showcasing some of the restaurant’s fantastic wine selection. Below you can read my thoughts as captions on the photos:

How Much: Each course and wine is individually priced, but we think three evening courses and wine would probably between £30 and £40. Although having said that, their brunch and weekend menu contains many a bargain to be consumed, including a very well reviewed Sunday Lunch, which we intend to return for in the very near future.
