What: Big Drop are a small brewery with a resolute purpose. They brew tasty, full flavoured beer, but always at less than 0.5% ABV. They use a mix of barley, rye, wheat and oats to brew seven different varieties of beer.
Established in 2016, the brewery has gone from strength to strength (pardon the inappropriate pun) and this year their beer has gained them eleven different awards!
Where: I bought mine from Beer Hawk, but you can buy their beer in Tesco, Ocado, Morrisons and through many other small local stockists.
Why: Having first drunk Big Drop’s beer during a very boozy night at The Bristol Craft Beer Festival, I was amazed at just how well their low ABV beer stood up against some of the best beer in the business.
Since that evening, the Pale Ale, Brown Ale and Stout are always in stock in my house. I find them to be a fantastic treat, but without the hassle of the usual repercussions of drinking. Usually, I will drink them for three reasons: I am looking to be good and have a night off, I am re-hydrating after big exercise, or I have a big day at work coming. They also make the perfect drink if you are the one who has been allocated the driving!
How Much: Between £1.70 and 2.00 from Beer Hawk – Although they are on sale as this review goes live – prices in other retailers may vary!
